Depart house 8:00am, 17864 odo. Arrive Joshua Tree 9:05am and into JTNP via the new entrance station. Park relatively quiet. Pretty day. Drive to Key's View and have it mostly to myself. Breeze but very clear. Continue east through park exiting via 29 Palms then continue east on hwy 62. Love this section of 62. So much open space and beautiful desert views. South on hwy 177 then west on I10. New solar farm under construction at Desert Center. I10 in good shape with lots of improved sections. Stop along Cottonwood road for lunch (kippers and beer) before driving home. Really a perfect day driving through desert with bright clear sunny skies. Home 2:15pm, 226 miles trip total.

Tour de Palm Springs in progress. Ride 2.4 miles before losing control after hitting pothole westbound Tahquitz at Farrell and going down in the gutter. Police and paramedics were very helpful and caring. SAR even gave me and my bike a ride home. 6 stitches at Urgent Care in right forearm, abrasion upper arm, and a large hematoma right pelvis.
Desert day trip to Joshua Tree. Depart house 8:30a, 14974 odo. Stop at TA truck stop on I10 for coffee. Lots of campers on BLM land along aqueduct road south of Cottonwood. No one at Bajada trail. Also no wildflowers. Cottonwood campground about half full. 63° at 10a. Drive a mile or so out Old Dale Road and back. Turn around a Porcupine Wash. TJ salad for lunch along aqueduct road before driving home. 125 miles for trip. Nice day.

First and possibly only view of comet C/2024 G3. Spotted 20 minutes after sunset through Tele Vue 76 at 30x. Also visible with 10x42 binoculars. Oddly i was unable to locate comet the following evening and by Thursday skies were clouded over so also not seen.
