Depart house 6:45a. Red Earth for coffee. Stopped along hwy 86 near our Brawley property. It's at Lone Tree Wash just south of Elmore. Thought there might be a drivable dirt road toward the property along levee but there is not. Continue south then take old hwy through Plaster City. The bridge near Ocotillo is still washed out but the drive around through the wash is a piece of cake. Border Patrol station west of Ocotillo was closed. Canyon Sin Nombre overlook at 9:45a. Bow Willow at 10a, 76°. Two motor homes in north loop and one tent camper in south loop. Egg Mtn, calm, clear, beautiful. Carrizo site, 10:30a, 78°. Campsite in pretty good shape and my ocotillo is looking well with fresh leaves and blooming. My beer offering from last time is gone but the pot shard is still there. Very quiet. Very little traffic on S2. Drive back via park. Only 2 campers at Pegleg. Stop at my willow tree in Fonts Wash for kipper lunch at 12p, 84°. Pretty easy drive home arriving at 1:45p. 270 miles and 7 hours trip total. Was a good day on the desert and an enjoyable drive.

Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks easily found in binoculars low in western evening sky. Bright and star-like. Almost naked eye but not quite. Through TV76 coma is visible but no tail seen through the skyglow.

Hike South Lykken. On way down near the top slipped and had a pretty hard fall bruising and scraping up my right arm/elbow/shoulder. Also bumped my head. But no broken bones and was able to walk out and drive home okay. 5300 steps.

Hike Araby trail. When i arrived only one car parked at trailhead. Some fresh graffiti near start by the trailer park but none higher up. Passed a large group of 12 uphill hikers on my way down plus some other smaller groups. Parking was overflowing when i got back to trailhead. Glad i started early. 8700 steps.
